When you interact with Tyche through WhatsApp or our mobile app, we may collect:
- Contact information — your WhatsApp phone number and display name (as provided by WhatsApp), used to identify your account and deliver messages to you.
- Wishlist content — items and price preferences you describe when asking Tyche to watch for deals on your behalf.
- Listing content — item descriptions, prices, and photos you submit when posting something for sale or give-away.
- Community membership — which communities you have joined.
- Interaction data — which notifications you opened, matches you saved or snoozed, and listings you contacted a seller about.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Match your wishlists to relevant products and send you deal alerts via WhatsApp or push notification.
- Post your listings and match them to buyers watching for similar items.
- Operate and improve the matching algorithm (using anonymized, aggregated signals — not individual profiles).
- Prevent fraud, spam, and abuse.
- Respond to your support requests.
We do not use your information for advertising profiling or sell your personal data to any third party.
3. Sub-Processors
We work with the following service providers who process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements:
- OpenAI — natural language processing to extract structured item details from your messages. Message text is sent to OpenAI's API for this purpose and is subject to OpenAI's data usage policies.
- Meta / WhatsApp — delivery of WhatsApp messages; subject to Meta's platform terms.
- Expo — delivery of mobile push notifications to the Tyche app.
- Google Firebase — phone number authentication for the Tyche mobile app.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account data and wishlist history for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Raw deal data (scraped from public Telegram channels) is retained for product-matching purposes and is not linked to any individual user.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Opt out of notifications at any time by replying STOP to any WhatsApp message from us.

6. Future Use of Anonymized Data
We may in the future offer premium features or use anonymized, aggregate insights (e.g., category demand trends) for business purposes. We will update this policy and notify users before doing so. We will never sell personally identifiable information.

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted data transmission (TLS), hashed credentials, and access controls to protect your information. No system is 100% secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
